Welcome to Week 4

Be honest. You can tell me. When it's Sunday and it's time to post the next Scrapnfun Summer Soiree challenges, it's the highlight of your week. Am I right?

Keep up the great work! I love looking at your layouts & seeing how you tweak the sketch or add other fun things. Fantastic job adding photos & journaling. If you haven't been able to complete layouts, it's okay - you can still catch up and get on track. Plus when you complete all 20 layouts (as long as they are turned in by the end of the challenge), they will count towards the Grand Prize drawing!

Click on the images below and right click to Save Image As, which will save to your desktop. Then you can print. Let me know if you need assistance with this process.

Don't forget to keep track of applicable points on your Tracking Sheet.

Week 4 - Challenge 1

Another fun sketch courtesy of the Creative Memories Virtual Crop Archives. This sketch is a double page layout from the August 2020 Virtual Crop.

Once again, the sketch does not include measurements. With my creative eye and years of experience (insert eye roll here), I am including my interpretation of what the measurements might be. Please tweak or create as comes to you (you do not have to follow anything I include below).

  • For the circles, you can either create "rings" (as shown) or keep them solid and layer the other pieces on top. To me, it looks like either largest CCS circle with blue blade on the outside (if creating a ring, cut the blue blade first, then use the green blade). Or use the jumbo circle, on the inside, whichever color blade you would like. It looks like only a single circle is needed and the part hidden by photos on the left side is cut into 2 pieces and used in the upper right corner on the right and on the bottom on the right.
  • Photos appear to be 4x6, both horizontal & vertical as well as 4x4 size for 2 of them. If using photo mats, I would make mats 4x6 and trim photos to be 3.75 x 5.75 or 4.5 x 5.5. And for the 4x4, mat size is that and photos are 3.75 x 3.75 or 3.5 x 3.5.
  • The vertical strip down the middle (crosses both pages) looks to be 2 x 11. cutting it at 1.5 then placing 1.5 strip on left and .5 strip on right. You can do any combination though or make it larger than 2 inches.
  • The horizontal strips across lower third of layout look to be 1 x 10 for the solid one and perhaps another shorter one layered behind it. Then a decorative strip (punch a BMC or border punch or use a sticker border) that is probably 11 inches (not the full 12 inches).
  • The rectangle layered behind the strips & photos looks to be 1 x 10 on the right side and 4 x 10 on the left, give or take. Placed next to the vertical strip (not behind).
  • Journal box looks to be small strips. The Write On strips would be perfect.
  • Embellishments can be whatever you would like them to be that coordinate with your topic/theme/photos.

Week 4 - Challenge 2

The second challenge for this week is a Project Recipe from Fall 2020. It featured the Hello Autumn Collection. Give this old PR new life (and to make it easier, it includes measurements)! Note fun border element at the bottom of both pages. Rotate the sketch 90 degrees and see how it turns out! So many options!

If you prefer to download the pdf of the Project Recipe, it is included after the jpg's.
